Nope, I'm afraid no long run happened that day. Instead, I figured I'd work an hour for every mile there is in the upcoming half marathon, cause who doesn't love to kick off the week with a 13-hour day?
Tuesday's workout: After the sanity-inducing day I had on Monday, I got up extra-early to get in a run, even if only a short one. So I went out into the cold, wet and stormy morning. I'm not gonna lie. It was miserable. By mile 2 I had a stitch, by mile 3 I had to stop to walk. WALK. That hasn't happened since 1500 BC! But I ran, I got out and I felt a million $s for that.
Verdict: 4 miles @ 10:01 pace. OUCH.
Followed by a mini-yoga practice of 15 minutes to give myself a proper stretch (I'll have to tell you about my latest yoga app discovery). And then, just to break up my crazy work day, I threw in a 3-minute HIIT blast of:
30 secs. jumping jacks
30 secs. high knees
12 push ups
30 secs. running with butt kicks (not sure what the 'proper' terms is for that)
Today's the last day for this project and I'm just getting ready to put in my last (ever, I hope!!!), 12-hour day. Wish me luck!!!
Do you ever break up your day with quick HIIT blasts? I totally made mine up but it worked, I felt much fresher and more alert afterwards (prolly just helped to get away from my desk!).
Happy Hump Day!
