I Ran, Ran, Ran...

Miles run in 2012: 562

Miles planned to run in 2013: no friggin' clue

Miles run on Tuesday: 4 @ 9:08 pace

I ran, I ran, I ran, lah-dee-lah-dee-lah-dee-daaaaaah...

And much needed it was after the last week or so!

Yesterday, when I got up the sky was blue and the sun was peeking out, unlike for the rest of the UK that is currently being covered in snow and ice. One more advantage of seaside-living! As I currently work from home, I kicked off the day bright and early (8am that is, and for me that IS early!) and was ready for a break by noon.

What did I do? Well, funny you should ask! I laced up my Brooks and headed out for a cheeky lunchtime run. Oh yes, marathon training is on like donkey-kong!!! It was bleedin' cold outside, but I'd layered up plenty and hit the promenade in no time.

Will the beauty of the sea ever seize to amaze me? I don't think so.

Yes, you've seen this before, but I didn't take my phone with me

I got lucky and was joined by G. Although he refuses to chat with me while running (running is for running and chatting is for when he's had a drink too many), he's got a way of making me keep up his pace or, rather, increase my own (although he did proclaim afterwards that we ran pretty darn slow ).

For my first 'proper' run back, I'm pretty pleased with those splits (note: the way out is with the wind in our backs, the way home is full-frontal into the wind and crossing two roads along the way. Can you tell?!).

So there. I'm back. Although I'm sure I've said that a bunch of times by now. And you know what? No better way to clear your head and get re-energized for a full afternoon's worth of work than a quick lunchtime plod.

Do you run at lunchtime/during your working day?

When's your favorite time of day to run?

    1. I hear ya! I've never attempted to do it before, only cause I'm working from home at the mo. Definitely beats running in the dark though!

  2. Way to run! That's awesome you're working from home and have the option to run any time! Seriously, your seaside living is already making me jealous and you haven't been there very long! Lucky you to always have an ocean to run beside.

    1. Come and visit and we'll take you for a plod along the seafront!!! Despite being completely slammed with work at the moment, I'm loving it already! :)

  3. I can't quite manage the Getting Out of Bed Too Early thing that seems neccessary for the super-early morning runs so lunchtime is one of my favourite times to run! Then I can be all smug in the office knowing that I've done my workout for the day! :)

    1. I hear ya! Two summers ago I was really good about getting up for 7am runs but no chance now that it's cold and dark. Brrr... I do know what you mean about feeling smug AND you have your evenings to chill!!!
